I was in the gym minding my own business and an older white lady told me I intimidated her with my hoodie on and asked me to take it off which resulted in this face and an old lady getting told to fuck off...
This was a couple nights after #TreyvonMartin got shot and killed by #GeorgeZimmerman I had no words all I had were tears, frustration and this picture. If some great friends hadn’t locked me up on the 45th floor of their penthouse and fed me love and laughter and champagne and most of all understanding I would have went looking for trouble. When you are told and shown that your life doesn’t matter enough times you start to feel like neither does anyone else’s namely the ones who cause your pain ...it would have been a mistake on my part all I can say is I was on the brink if you don’t get it you don’t get it. (that #Gloc19 I have in the picture was mine and legal I ended up throwing it in a lake the day of the #SandyHook shooting I was angry hurt and frustrated. But have since bought a Sigma 9 I affectionately call “Serena”️)
the bottom two are what most of my pictures portray me as, a happy, loving, & educated black man. The top two pictures are me but they are the me that being black in America brings out. They aren’t the me that when given a chance I would rather be at all times. But I am Black, strong, and educated so that means I have to be prepared to fight and speak for my people at all times...being Black in America can be terrifying, nerve wracking, and very very bleak. #ButWePushOn
